Whether you need to store, transport, tidy, protect or pack, warehouse storage bins are essential handling equipment for any business. Multi-purpose and durable, they will be a go-to for your logistics unit, provided they are well chosen.
Before purchasing warehouse storage bins or shelving units, it is important to ask yourself a few questions so you can identify your specific needs and thus choose the most suitable container for what you want to use it for.
Which Storage Box is Best?
This really depends on the use for the storage box - we have
a wide range of boxes to suit every need.
Large Heavy Duty Storage: If you’re looking for a large heavy duty storage box, we’d recommend the Supra Range or our XL Range as they are temperature resistant, lockable, stackable and extremely secure.
Home Storage: If you’re looking to organise your home, you may want something that is a little bit more aesthetically pleasing. We have a range of strong & reliable smaller containers at an affordable price, to suit your home decor.
Van Storage: The XL 3 options that we have available come highly recommended. These offer a dependable, cost-effective security solution for your tools and equipment.
Warehouse Storage: Storage is an integral part to any business stocking various supplies and stock, and finding warehouse storage solutions that are affordable as well as durable can be a struggle. At UK Pallet Racking we have both shelving and storage options available for you.
As you can see, there are a range of different storage boxes all used for a variety
of different situations. Rest assured, if you’re still looking for a storage box, we have one perfect for your storage problems.
What is louvre?
Louvred storage bins that can be stacked or wall-mounted on louvred panels, come in a range of sizes and capacities – and with capacities that depend on whether they are standalone, stacked or mounted. At UK Pallet Racking we offer these bins in different sizes and come in various colours.
What is the right size?
Picking the right sizes for your particular need is key – not least if you want them to stack. This is why it is often a good idea to buy your whole storage solution from one supplier, so that you have commonality of sizes which can also work together.
How Should I Organise My Plastic Storage Boxes?
The whole point of storage boxes is to keep an area or workplace organised and tidy, making everything easily accessible and easy to find. That being said, if your storage boxes are not organised then clutter can start to build up fairly quickly, resulting in items getting lost or misplaced.
When organising your storage boxes, we have a number of tips and tricks. Firstly, separating items into specific categories is a big part of keeping organised and staying on top of things. This is especially true for workshops and warehouses, where things are easily lost.
The next thing to consider is labelling your boxes so you know exactly where everything is when you need it. In workshops and warehouses, small parts can easily get left lying about, not only causing a mess but also causing a safety hazard. By keeping items in dedicated, labelled storage boxes, you’re able to keep your workshops and warehouses tidy, clean and safe. Our parts bins, view bins, shelf bins and vision blocks can all easily be labelled to keep workshops tidy, as well as our home storage options.
Finally, we recommend keeping storage boxes out of the way whilst still being easily accessible. For example, keeping boxes underneath desks and work benches and keeping part bins and view bins attached/against the wall is a perfect way to keep your storage boxes out of the way. Keeping your workspace clean is a great way to ensure maximum safety in storage environments.
Are your warehouse storage bins for food use?
For hygiene and safety reasons, if food products are stored or transported in plastic bins, these storage units must be compatible with the food-grade quality standard and/or the HACCP system1.
These storage solutions can also take the form of insulated bins and containers to keep the food hot or cold.
Which material is best for warehouse storage bins?
If you want to choose the right warehouse storage bins, you should always consider the plastic used in their manufacture as the most important information. There are two main materials:
- Polyethylene (mostly used): This is particularly recommended for storing products in cold environments (from -40 °C to +20 °C);
- Polypropylene: This is more resistant and more suitable for storing products in places where temperatures vary from 0 °C to 40 °C.
There are also cardboard bins and boxes which are ideal for storing spare parts such as nuts and bolts, screws and small supplies.
Will your bins store electronic products?
The European standard requires that electronic products are stored or transported by means of ESD/Antistatic bins (EN 61340-5) to avoid electrostatic discharges.
How do I label storage bins?
Labelling storage bins is crucial for knowing just what is in each bin or container, making it clear for anyone to find what they are looking for. How to label them comes down to what you are storing in them, but a few rules of thumb apply.
If you have lots of wall mounted containers or a stack of storage bins with lids, it can help to label them either alphabetically or chronologically and keep an inventory of what, when and where items were stored.
While it is possible to write on cardboard and some plastic containers, sticky labels are ideal as they can be clearly printed on and, should the contents of that storage bin change, a new label can be stuck over the old (or the old removed and replaced with a new one).
There are also ranges of storage bins that come with plastic holders for labels, as well as ranges that feature a slot for a label, making labelling straightforward and clear.
If your containers contain fragile or dangerous goods, then you must label them correctly, showing everything from ‘Fragile’ to ‘This way up’ to some of the dangers that may be stored within, such as ‘Corrosive’ or “Flammable’ and so on.
Where Can I Buy Storage Boxes?
We are the best place to buy your plastic storage boxes. When ordering with us, you’re receiving high quality storage products that will be received in good time.
We are able to ship nationwide and in some cases, internationally. When international shipping isn’t available, in some cases, we can arrange and allow for your carriers/shipping company to arrange a collection from our National Distribution Centre, but make sure to contact us before placing your order. Are plastic storage bins recyclable?
What can you do with old storage bins? Despite being tough and resilient, eventually you may need to get rid of storage bins and containers – so what can you do with them?
Cardboard storage solutions can of course simply be recycled at any recycling centre. Polypropylene (PP) containers – including polyboard – can be recycled at specialist PP recycling centres, where they are crushed, chipped and melted down. This recycled PP is then used to make more storage containers – and garden furniture, butter tubs, bottle tops and more.
Unfortunately, we do not offer a recycling scheme for old storage bins. For this you can contact your local authority for waste disposal/management.
Delivery time?
Our containers are normally shipped same day if ordered before 2pm and delivered within 2 -4 days. For large orders it may take a day or two longer.
